CFA 6301 - 8 Day Longcase Herron (Newtown)
A mid 18th century oak cased striking brass dial 8 day longcase clock by Jas.Herron, Newtown (James Herron, Wales, circa 1750).
This solid plain oak cased longcase clock has a square 13" brass dial with cherub head cast corner spandrels, raised engraved chapter ring, finely matted centre and ringed winding holes, seconds dial and a pair of blued steel hands. The substantial oak case has a flat top hood with fleur-de-lys blind fretwork frieze over a pair of turned pillars either side the glazed hood door with brass knob. The plain trunk has a mainly flat top trunk door with brass escutcheon and working lock and key over a square base with shaped bracket plinth.
