CFA 6264 - 8 Day Longcase Joyce (Whitchurch)
A much sought after late 18th Century painted dial flat top striking 8 day longcase clock by Joyce, Whitchurch (James Joyce, Shropshire 1752-1817) an early member of the world renound firm of clock makers.
The 12" square black and gilt decorated dial with both Roman and Arabic numerals to the chapter ring around 2 brass surround winding holes, a date aperture showing the working date wheel, blued steeled hands and a vase of flowers below 12 o'clock. The mahogany cross-banded oak case, has a flat top hood over a pair of turned and fluted pillars with brass capitals and bases, over a trunk with arched wavy top door with brass escutcheon, working lock and key and fluted quarter collumn pillasters over a square base with raised mahogany cross-banded panel, on shaped bracket plinth.
